I would like you to feel the magic of a black and white image. In this example, the black and white image has a great amount of contrast in the image. But I feel that it sets the mood for what the photographer wanted to create. Moreover, people tend to try to remove the contrast and make everything pretty. Nothing in like is pretty and simple. The raw nature of the black and white image dates back to the 1800’s first type of photography. The images back then had tons of contrast and grain in the photo. Sometimes it was even so hard to see the subject in the photograph. With the dawn of modern age and cheap digital camera, things have become blurry from reality. People really need to see the truth about what they see and stop hiding behind a filter in an APP.
When I first started learning to shoot I was about the age of 9. My mother bought me a Kodak 35mm camera. I would snap photos of everyone that came to the house and anything that moved. I still to this day have that camera at my mother house along with about 100 rolls of film that needs to be processed. But recently my wife got me a Holga 35mm camera and now the process has started over again with me, just snapping pictures… I really do miss developing my own film. Nowadays I just push pixels around in photoshop.
With the digital age upon us, it seems people are forgetting how things began and how things will end.
